MAIN WEATHER OBSERVATIONS (Recorded during past 24 hours)
  • Widespread rainfall has occurred over Uttrakhand, west Uttar Pradesh, west coast, Telengana, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, fairly widespread over Madhya Pradesh, east Rajasthan and Gujarat region.
  • The chief amounts of rainfall (≥3 cm) recorded at 0830 hours IST of today are: Jalpaiguri-21, Alibagh-13, Seoni and Surat-14 each, Betul-11, Shahjahanpur-8, Passighat, North Lakhimpur, Rajgarh, Shimla and Hoshangabad-6 each, Dholpur, Dibrugarh, Cherrapunji, Mahabaleshwar, Siliguri, Dharamshala and Wardha-5 each, Umaria, Chanderpur, Pantnagar, Bareilly, Najibabad, Harnai, Delhi(Sfd) and Bikaner-4 each, Goa (Panjim), Ramagundam, Udgir, Kolkata, Gondia, Yeotmal, Idar, Jalgoan, Bapatla, Bulsar and Sunder Nagar-3each.
Synoptic features (based on 1430 hrs IST Observations)
  • The low pressure area over Orissa and neighbourhood with associated cyclonic circulation extending upto mid-tropospheric levels and tilting south-westwards with height persists.
  • The axis of monsoon trough at mean sea level passes through Anupgarh, Churu, Agra, Fatehpur, Satna, Pendra, centre of low pressure area and thence southeastwards to eastcentral Bay of Bengal.
  • The upper air cyclonic circulation in lower levels over Haryana and north Rajasthan persists.
  • The upper air cyclonic circulation over north Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Uttar Pradesh & east Rajasthan now lies over northwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining areas extending upto mid- tropospheric levels.
  • The off-shore trough runs from Gujarat coast to Kerala coast.

Satellite Observations:
  • KALPANA–1 Cloud imagery at 1430 hours IST shows convective clouds over parts of Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, south Chhattisgarh, Gengetic west Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, north & central Bay of Bengal and Andaman Sea. Low/medium clouds are seen over remaining parts of the country.

  • Fairly widespread rain/thundershowers would occur over Himachal Pradesh, Uttrakhand, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, east Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, northeastern states, Orissa, Chhattisgarh, north Andhra Pradesh, west coast, interior Maharashtra and Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

  • Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall would occur over west Uttar Pradesh during next 48 hours.
  • Isolated heavy rainfall would occur over Uttarakhand, Haryana, Delhi, east Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Vidarbha, south Chhattisgarh, south Orissa, Telangana, north coastal Andhra Pradesh, Sub- Himalayan west Bengal & Sikkim, Assam & Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh during next 24 hours.
