Main Weather Observations (recorded duirng past 24 hours)

 ♦      Widespread rainfall has occured over Uttarakhand, Vidarbha, south Chhattisgarh, Konkan & Goa and  coastal Karnataka,  fairly widespread over west Madhya Pradesh, Telengana, north Orissa and northeastern States.

♦      The chief amounts of rainfall (≥ 3 cm) recorded at 0830 hours IST of today are: Bramhapuri-22, Pantnagar and Tehri-12 each, Rajnandgaon-10,  Durg-7, Manglore and Itanagar-6 each, Mahabeleshwar and Dhramshala-5 each, Shimla, Silchar, Gangtok, Puri, Honavour, Cannur, Hyderabad, and Guwahati-4 each, Lengpui, Hirakud, Indore, Mumbai, (Col), Ratnagiri, Parbhani, Aurangabad, Gulbarga, Rewa, Delhi(Pal), Akola, Buldana, Ambikapur, Dehradun and Najibabad-3 each.

♦      KALPANA–1 Cloud imagery at 0830 hours IST shows convective clouds over parts of  Uttarkhand, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Vidharbha, south Chhattisgarh, south Orissa, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, westcentral Bay of Bengal and Andaman Sea. Low/medium clouds are seen over remaining parts of the country.


Synoptic Features based on 0830 hrs IST

 ♦     The low pressure area over Orissa and neighbourhood with associated cyclonic circulation extending upto mid-tropospheric levels merged with monsoon trough.

♦    The upper air cyclonic circulation over west Haryana and neighbourhood in lower levels persists.

♦    Another upper air cyclonic circulation lies over northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Orissa and extends upto mid troposphric levels.

♦    The axis of monsoon trough at mean sea level passes through Anopgarh, Alwar, Jhansi, Umaria, Champa, Puri and thence southeastwards to eastcentral Bay of Bengal.

♦    The off-shore trough runs from south Gujarat coast to Karnatakla coast.


Major Feature of Weather Forecast (upto 0830 hours IST of 10 September, 2010)

♦    Fairly widespread rain/thundershowers would occur over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Delhi, west Uttar Pradesh, east Rajasthan and north coastal Andhra Pradesh during next 48 hours and decrease thereafter.

♦     Fairly widespread rain/thundershower occur over Madhya Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, northeastern states, west coast, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Chhattisgarh, Orissa and Vidarbha.

♦    Scattered rain/thundershowers would occur over Gujarat, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathawada.


Weather Warnings

♦     Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall would occur over south Orissa, north coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telengana, south Chhattisgarh, and Vidarbha during next 48 hours.

♦     Isolated heavy rainfall would occur over Uttrakhand and west Uttar Pradesh during next 24 hours.


Weather Outlook (upto 0830 hours IST of 12 September 2010)

♦     Fairly widespread rainfall activity would occur over most parts of country outside interior peninsular India where it may be scattered.
